On July 4, 2006 Assembly delegates from Alliance churches across Canada elected Dr. Franklin Pyles of Owen Sound, Ontario, president of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
Dr. Pyles is a church planter with a passion and zeal to win lost people in Canada and overseas, and a persistent dependence on the Bible as the foundation for everything. “Franklin Pyles is a very capable trained theologian turned pastor,” said outgoing president Dr. Arnold Cook. “He has a vision for Canadian churches and is very committed to the denomination.”
Before his election, Dr. Pyles served as senior pastor at The Alliance Church in Owen Sound for 14 years. Prior to the pastorate in Owen Sound, he taught at Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina for four years, worked as a church planter in urban Chicago for seven years, and served as pastor of Urban University Church in Detroit for seven years. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada. He was re-elected in 2004 for another four-year term.
Franklin and his wife Gay have raised five children: Christopher, Natasha, Timothy, James and Anna. Both James and Anna were killed in tragic car accidents - Anna in 1997 and James in 2004.

The Christian
& Missionary Alliance is an alliance of evangelical
believers, joined together in local churches, committed
to fulfilling the Great Commission given by our Lord
Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19,
20 instruct us,
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you" (NIV).
We are
Christian because we believe and follow Jesus Christ
as Savior and Lord. We are missionary because we are
committed to reaching unreached people with the good news
of Jesus Christ.
Our mission
statement reads... "The Christian and Missionary
Alliance is committed to world missions, stressing the
fullness of Christ and preaching the gospel to the ends
of the earth." Since our beginning in 1887, the
Alliance has grown to a worldwide constituency of over
2.5 million including the United States and Canada. We
have ministries in 56 countries and territories around
the world.
What
do Alliance people believe?
The
Alliance emphasizes the need for genuine spiritual
conversion to Christ, a Spirit-filled life, and effective
service. The doctrinal statement of the Christian and
Missionary Alliance was adopted in 1965. It has been
reaffirmed in succeeding years and stands as our
statement of evangelical belief. We teach the centrality
of Christ expressed as "Jesus Christ-Savior,
Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King."
